Ian Kappo
President/Executive Director
A seasoned professional with a wealth of experience, Ian is currently honing my skills in a Digital Design diploma program at Bow Valley College while serving as the Executive Director of ‘Our Nation Student Housing’ dedicated to Indigenous student housing. Ian’s journey has been marked by a deep commitment to community service and personal growth.
Outside of my professional pursuits, Ian is an avid cyclist, an explorer of Calgary’s diverse landscapes, a food enthusiast, and a passionate audiobook listener. Ian’s curiosity and love for new experiences keep him on the move, always ready for the next adventure.
A significant part of his journey has been a reconnection to my culture, attending ceremonies that have enriched his understanding and appreciation of his heritage. As of December, he will be celebrating four years of sobriety, a milestone that he immensely proud of.
Ian believes in the power of design to create positive change, and brings this belief to his work every day. He invites you to join him on this journey as he navigates the world of digital design, strive to make a difference in the lives of Indigenous students, and continue to grow both personally and professionally. Sukhjit Singh
Treasurer/Director
A man of many talents and a heart full of compassion. Sukhjit is a successful business owner and a trained Support Worker who works with people overcoming addictions. His work with clients is marked by a caring and supportive approach, reflecting his deep commitment to helping others on their recovery journey.
In addition to his professional roles, Sukhjit volunteers as the Treasurer/Director for Our Nation Student Housing, further demonstrating his dedication to community service.
When he’s not working or volunteering, Sukhjit enjoys spending quality time with his family and helping them in any way he can. He also has a unique hobby of collecting aquatic animals, showcasing his love for nature and its diverse creatures.
Sukhjit’s passion lies in supporting the community. Whether through his work at his own business, or his volunteer work, he continually strives to make a positive impact on those around him.
Ashley Grennier
Secretary/Director
Is a dedicated Property Administrator at an international commercial real estate management company. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for real estate, Ashley is currently expanding her knowledge base by enrolling in a fundamentals of real estate course to obtain her license.
In addition to her full-time role, Ashley volunteers as a Secretary/Director of the board, demonstrating her commitment to service and leadership. Her work ethic is unmatched, and she brings the same level of dedication to her personal pursuits.
A lover of textiles, Ashley enjoys working with different fabrics in her spare time, creating beautiful and unique pieces. She also finds solace in music, using it as a form of therapy and self-care. An avid reader, Ashley is always on the lookout for a good book to dive into.
However, the role Ashley values most is being a mother. Time spent with her son and family is precious to her, and she cherishes every moment.
Whether she’s managing properties, serving on the board, or spending quality time with her family, Ashley Grennier is a testament to the power of hard work, dedication, and balance.
Dwayne Goforth

A self-taught artist with over 30 years of experience. Dwayne’s artistic journey is a testament to his dedication, creativity, and self-discipline. His art not only reflects his talent but also his unique perspective on the world.
Beyond his artistic pursuits, Dwayne is deeply involved in community service. He volunteers with various outreach programs, focusing on homelessness and addiction. His work in these areas showcases his compassion and commitment to making a positive difference in people’s lives.
An important part of Dwayne’s life is his spiritual journey. This journey has shaped his worldview and influences his art and community service. It has given him a deeper understanding of himself and the world around him, and it continues to inspire him in his daily life.

Owen Roan
Board Member/Director
A dedicated Maintenance Worker at the Calgary John Howard Society. Owen’s commitment to service extends beyond his professional role, as he also volunteers as a Director/Board Member for Our Nation Student Housing. His work in both roles reflects his dedication to community and his desire to make a positive impact.
Owen is a man of many talents and interests. He is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys going to the gym and exploring Calgary on foot. An avid reader, Owen is always on the lookout for a good book to dive into.
One of Owen’s most notable achievements is learning to fly a plane before he was even able to drive. This accomplishment speaks to his adventurous spirit and determination.
Owen is a strong supporter of Indigenous culture and addiction recovery programs. His advocacy work in these areas is a testament to his passion for social justice and community support.
